1. Who we are
Tradesman (“we”, “our”, “us”) is a business operating system built for solo tradespeople and small trade businesses. We are based in South Africa and serve customers across 14 countries.
2. What data we collect
We collect the following categories of personal information:
- Account data — name, email address, and password (hashed).
- Business profile data — business name, address, trade type, country, tax numbers, and banking details you choose to store.
- Transaction data — quotes and invoices you create, including client names and contact details.
- Usage data — pages visited, features used, and error logs collected automatically to help us improve the product.
- Payment data — subscription payment records processed through Paystack. We do not store raw card numbers.
3. How we use your data
- To provide and operate the Tradesman service.
- To generate AI-assisted quotes, invoices, and compliance documents on your behalf.
- To send transactional emails (invoice reminders, account notifications).
- To process subscription payments and manage your account.
- To detect and prevent fraud or abuse.
- To comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
4. Data sharing
We share data only with the following service providers who help us operate:
- Supabase — database and authentication infrastructure.
- Vercel — application hosting.
- Anthropic / Groq — AI generation for quotes and documents. Prompts may include your business name and line-item descriptions.
- Paystack — payment processing.
- Resend — transactional email delivery.
All providers are bound by data processing agreements and handle data only as instructed by us.
5. Data retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data is removed within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g. financial records).
6. Your rights
Depending on your country, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your data.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Export your data in a portable format.

7. Cookies
We use essential session cookies for authentication. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
8. Security
All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access is restricted by row-level security policies — your data can only be read by your account.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the date at the top. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
